Facebook is testing the new ability to cross post Facebook Stories to Instagram. According to a new report from TechCrunch explains that FB users have long been able to cross post Instagram Stories to Facebook, but now the company is taking things to the opposite direction.
The feature, of cross post which is in public testing, was first discovered by Jane Manchun Wong, who regularly discovers any new social networking features ahead of their release. That feature is accessible to the testers via Story Privacy settings page in the Facebook app, where users will find a new “Share Story to Instagram” toggle.
As Facebook continues to integrate the Instagram with the rest of its services so this feature also comes as company is actively working to unify its Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram messaging applications to one place.
It’s not guaranteed that Facebook will fully roll-out ability to cross post Facebook Stories to the Instagram Stories. As that feature is still in public beta testing but that could change at any time.
Facebook explained in a statement, the reasoning behind the new feature:
According to FB spokesperson, company is now formally testing the cross-posting feature to make it easier for users to share moments with the who matters to them, since users might have different audiences and followers network on Facebook versus Instagram.
TechCrunch also pointed out that this would theoretically allows both platforms Facebook and Instagram to sync your already viewed status of the cross-posted stories and would prevent you from watching the same story from the same person on both platforms.
