Apple’s Mac Pro revealed in Malaysia, is highly overpriced with no surprise at all than price.
Apple’s Mac Pro comes with a starting price of RM25,999 in Malaysia, that is even before the configuration and for the tower option alone and if you are looking at the rack variant, then the starting price is at RM27,999.
Is new Apple Mac Pro overpriced? Not really.
In United States, it starting variant priced at $52,599 is buying you a lot of hardware. From a 2.5GHz 28‑core Intel Xeon W processor and 1.5TB (12x128GB) of DDR4 ECC RAM to the duel Radeon Pro Vega II Duo, each with 2x32GB of HBM2 memory and 4TB of SSD storage.
As you would expect, but the most significant part of that hardware is the RAM, that is going from the base 32GB to the 1.5TB option, adds another $25,000 to price, not including the fact that 1.5TB of RAM also requires upgrading to 24-core or 28-core Intel Xeon processors, that is from base price adds $6,000 and $7,000 to the actual amount, respectively.
Configurations for Mac Pro Tower version
For tower version’s configurations now available if you take the processor, graphics, memory, storage and add on features on it, such as trackpad and magic mouse, the stainless steel frame with wheels, as well as pre-installed softwares of Logic Pro X, and Final Cut Pro X, then the cost really doubles up to RM233k and more. That’s seems almost 10x to the initial proposed cost.
Apple website shows that the Mac Pro should be available by early February 2020 and at least shipping is free.
