Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly working with supply chain partners in Taiwan on many upcoming products, including a so-called AirPod Pro Lite, as per the report of DigiTimes.
Among other products mentioned included the next-generation iPad, iMac models, and Apple Watch, all of which will be due for updates in the coming months. Although some like the Apple Watch and iPad are unlikely to launch before September.
‘AirPod Pro Lite’ comes without any further details, concealed in a report about Apple Inc is looking to ramp up the production with partners in Taiwan, as it seeks to geographically diversify Apple Inc (AAPL)’s supply chain amid the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, which has significantly impacted the production areas in China.
The company is maintaining the partnerships with the supply chains in both China and Taiwan. And most probably, its Taiwanese partners handle more production of next-generation iPad, AirPod Pro Lite, Apple Watch and iMac devices to be released later, as the ongoing coronavirus epidemic has raised the risks of raw materials supply shortages and shipments disruptions coming from uncertain resumption of the normal operations at the end of components suppliers and assembly plants in China, the digitimes sources said.
It’s also ambiguous exactly what does it means when DigiTimes is referring to by “AirPod Pro Lite,” as Apple has just released the AirPods Pro in October of last year. And that is followed by the launch of second generation regular AirPods in March 2019, and with only $50 separating AirPods Pro from the wireless case version of the regular AirPods. Hence, it vague how a “Lite” version of the AirPods Pro would fit into the Apple’s upcoming lineup.
It’s the matter of fact that DigiTimes often has some insight into the Apple’s product pipeline through the details of supply chain, but the publication is less accurate, when it comes to specific details like the product naming and timing. Hence, it’s possible that these could be a third generation of the regular AirPods, but we will have to wait for further rumors to surface before we have a better picture of what to expect.
